Ricky’s Race For David’s House Saturday At Canaan:
Canaan, NH – When race
fans and competitors assemble this weekend at Canaan Fair Speedway,
Canaan, NH, two people will be remembered for the impact their lives
had on those around them, and the impact they still continue to have
today.
Ricky Miller passed away at age 34 from injuries suffered in a
racing accident. David Cyr passed way at age 5 after a three-year
battle with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Neither family knew each
other. In the last two years they have bonded for the same cause.
This weekend their families, friends, and supporters will team up to
honor Ricky and David’s memory and to benefit David’s House in
Lebanon, NH, David’s House is a home-away-from-home that offers
support for families with children receiving treatment through
Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in
Lebanon, NH.
A
special two-day event has been planned for Friday and Saturday, July
23 & 24, all to benefit David’s House. Last year the family of Ricky
Miller presented a check in the amount of $10,012. This year they
hope to surpass that amount.
Friday, Gateway Motors, White River Junction Vermont, will host a
pre-race day pit party featuring a car show from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM.
On display will be Modified Racing Series cars, Canaan Fair Speedway
cars, antique racecars, street cars & trucks, a live broadcast with
KIXX 100.5 Radio, prizes and giveaways.
Fans will also have the opportunity to enter raffle drawings to win
$1,000 cash, tickets to this seasons, New England Patriots vs.
Indianapolis Colts NFL game, Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
game this fall, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at NHMS-Loudon in
September.
On
Saturday, Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH, will present the third
annual Ricky Miller Memorial 112, featuring the Modified Racing
Series, sponsored by Bob Valenti AutoMall.Com. A strong field of
competitors from throughout the northeast is expected to enter. To
date, eight different winners in nine races have visited victory
lane.
Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT., a two-time winner (2006 & 2007) at
Canaan, takes a 17 point lead into Saturdays race over 2009 series
champion, and 2007 Canaan winner, Jon McKennedy, E.Chelmsford, MA,
and a 26 point lead over Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT, a 2004 winner
at Canaan and a former series champion.
Additional entries expected include Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon
Valley, PA, Jack Bateman, Canaan, a winner at his home track in
2006, Jacob Dore, Sanford, ME, local favorites, Sean Bodreau,
Claremont, NH, and Joey Jarvis, Ascutney, VT, Kenny Barry, Preston,
CT., Mike Douglas, Jr, Auburn, NH, and rookie contenders, Todd
Annarummo, Swansea, MA, and Max Zachem, Preston, CT., to name a few.
